What Is The Political Revolution, the Progressive Platform?

What is the political revolution?

I joined the #politicalrevolution in 2016 when advocating for Bernie Sanders to be the Democrat nominee. Bernie being an Independent at start is what leaned me to support his platform. I learned at a recent DSA meeting that he has a medicare for all bill in congress bout to be passed to the next house. Medicare for all speaks volumes to me. Too many people are in need of general practice doctors in our communities. There are pop up triage in pharmacies and in fluent communities. But we need culture component physicians and medical staff serving in every community. So medicare for all is a political revolution but what hold my tongue else is revolutionary about advocacy today?

This is election season and it seems to me the revolution kinda passed over after J20 and Occupy movements. So I wonder is the revolution simply adjustment in the parties to entertain? What is the progressive platform? From what I’m seeing progressive politics is replicating present political systems. We say we want to break away from corporate control of politics but how when some of us are acting much like what we want to break away from. Or is deeply rooted colonialism separate from corporate personhood. Oh wait I’m not sure that concern is explored in the revolution. Are we #Scapegoating? Maybe the political revolution is brewing in batches here and there for I do see some unity in the advocacy community and that is a major step towards building the people’s revolution.

#OccupyICEPhilly are some revolutionary advocates letting government know that they understand our human rights and have the right to publicly exercise them. Police assaulted my comrade Anlin Wang because they don’t agree with the revolution changing how systems are conducted. Occupy ICE was successful in stopping Philadelphia from sharing information with ICE.

Professor of Law, Michelle Dauber spoke at a Philadelphia NOW event on #EndingRapeCulture in our society. Professor Dauber teaches at Stanford University where elite mentality ruled until #JudgePozzo gave rapist #BrockTurner a six months sentence instead of two years. That under verdict was the spark that set Prof. Dauber on fire. She said "That was not acceptable" and helped organize other women who had been through his court and dismissed.

Professor Dauber efforts to #EndRapeCulture has not stopped with the recall of Judge Del Pozzo. She started #EnoughIsEnoughVoterProject to bring information to voters about candidates running for office.

The organization, dubbed the Enough is Enough Voter Project, says on its website that it aims to "hold politicians accountable and ensure violence against women is part of the national conversation this November and in future elections." In a video promoting the project, Dauber said, "Aaron Persky isn't the only elected official who doesn't take violence against women seriously." She continued:

He's one of many. It's time for that to change. Enough is enough. We're mobilizing women and our allies all across the United States to investigate and to defeat candidates who have turned against women on issues of sexual harassment and violence against women... These people have no place in public life. We're saying enough is enough by standing up to bullies at the ballot box. #PaVoterCourtWatch.com is revolutionary; the site was created from advocacy with families having struggles in the judicial system. Pa. Voter Court Watch goal is to inform people that #JudgesMatter and bring more voters into judicial elections with community conversations and canvassing. We aim to interview as many judicial candidates as possible and post the video interview on the website for viewers to learn about the candidates. There is no endorsement of candidates so the pay to play politics is no longer a factor. We are offering training in court watching soon so that we are able to be part of the transparent and accountable courts that we want in our state. Most revolutionary part is we are building partnerships with attorneys and judges who also want integrity, transparency and accountability in our courts. That’s taking our power back from corporate personhood, and that’s called #Politicalrevolution!!
