#TeamRhino #SaveTheRhino #SaveFive

Raising Awareness to protect our #WildLife, Please take the pledge: I would like to join #TeamRhinodotorg in the fight against rhino poaching to ensure a future for people and vulnerable wildlife on our planet: I will never buy or promote any products made of rhino horn, as I know that demand drives poaching. I will be a committed advocate to support rangers and others on the frontlines of rhino conservation. I will share my passion about rhino conservation and recruit my friends and family to become involved. I will urge my government to continue championing efforts to stop rhino poaching at home and abroad. I will stand with IRF to help save rhinos from extinction. teamrhino.org

Parent Resources in Philadelphia

Parents there are so many resources in our city to assist you and your families development. The School District of Philadelphia, The Free Library of Philadelphia and Art-Reach are my favorite resources because we can learn so much mostly for free or a small fee.

The Family and Community Engagement center at our school district always has great resources from use of the Internet, printing our documents, to free parent workshops and books for the family. i try to visit the Family and Community Engagement center every time i'm at the district. i have been able to connect to free computers, and organizations or individuals with the concerns as i. There are so many resources for the family and family involvement. i learned about Daddy University, Parenting in a Violent World town hall in the family and community engagement center. Attending that workshop i learned:

#PIVWPhila we all have a role along with a piece of the puzzle that mends us together. Great CONVERSATION on parenting in a violent world. Great Job Joel Austin and panelist!! The Social Consequences of Fatherlessness: ... the average visitation order gives a father fifty days a year with his children. because 20 percent of custodial mothers see no value in maintaining the father-child relationship, visitation interference is common. That fifty - day allotment quickly evaporates. Only one in six divorced fathers sees his children once a week or more. Almost 40 percent of children who live with their mothers haven't seen their fathers and as following facts complied by the National Fatherhood Initiative demonstrate, father absence has dramatic and extremely serious effects on us all:

**72% of all teenaged murderers grew up without fathers

**60% of rapists were raised in fatherless homes

**70% if the kids now incarcerated in juvenile corrections facilities grew up in a single-parent environment.

**Fatherless children are twice as likely to drop out of school as their classmates who live with two parents.

**Fatherless children are 11x's more likely than are children from intact families to exhibit violent behavior.

**Children whose fathers are absent consistently score lower than the norm in reading and math tests.

**Three of four teen suicides occur in single parent families.

Daddy University creates partnerships with parents by providing information, services and products to support parents in overcoming tough times in parenting. There is a weekly mothers and fathers club with so much to gain from Daddy University. 1800 JFK Blvd, Suite 300. 610.579.3237 info@daddyuniv.com Twitter @daddyuniv facebook/nationalfatherhoodconference

Frontline Dads had a resource table at the town hall, Frontline Dads also offer mentoring for youth and families. Reuben Jones, MHS created Frontline Dads and is very active in our communities addressing family issues. Rueben was a speaker at Men Can End Domestic Violence event a call for men to step up and end domestic violence. The event was developed by Vashti Bledsoe, The Lutheran Settlement House, and various partners.

The Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services also had a resource table at the town hall. They offer a free Mental Health First Aid training to youth and adults. Mental health first aid is important because our communities are stressed and often could use the assistance with a mental health crisis or concern. Mental Health First Aid is an eight hour training course that will empower you to help others by being able to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and addictions.

The Family and Community Engagement Center is currently reaching out to empower parents with Parent Coordinators who are eager to assist families and resolve issues and concerns.

There is a great Parent's Guide to Response to Instruction and Intervention. A multi-level approach to the early identification and support of students' learning and behavior needs. i have only mentioned a pinch of the resources parents can gain at the school district. Please take a trip to 440 N. Broad St and see how you can be empowered with the resources, workshops and Parent University.
